Founded in 1994 at the International Menuhin Music Academy in
Gstaad (Switzerland), the TRIO LIGETI received, in the context
of the Academy and in several masterclasses, advice from Sir Yehudi
Menuhin, Alberto Lysy, Radu Aldulescu, Johannes Eskaer,

| Bruno Giuranna, Siegmund Nissel, Michel
Strauss and Joseph Silverstein. The Trio already played concerts
and appeared in Festivals in Switzerland, France, Germany and Italy,
among others, at the 'Festival de Pontino' at Sermoneta (Italy)
and at the 'Rencontres musicales' and 'Journées Hindemith' at Blonay,
Switzerland. In 1995, they were - with the unanimity of the jury
- awarded the 'Grand Prix de musique de chambre' of the 'Forum musical
de Normandie'. In May 1996, they won First Prize at the 2nd Osaka
International Chamber Music Competition (Japan). |
Igor Keller, violin
Born in Bouxwiller (Alsace, France), Igor Keller studied at the Musikakademie
Basel (Switzerland) with Adelina Oprean and at the Mozarteum Salzburg
with Sandor Vegh. In 1992, he entered the 'International Menuhin Music
Academy' of Gstaad (Switzerland), became student of Alberto Lysy and
Sir Yehudi Menuhin and graduated from the Academy in 1995. Furthermore,
he participated in several masterclasses directed by, among others,
Felix Andrievski, Irina Botchkov, Walter Levin and Hatto Beyerle. Already
early on he appeared as soloist with orchestras in France, Germany,
Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands. His récitals and intense chamber
music activities have led him all over France, to Germany, Switzerland,
Italy, Spain, the Ukraine and Argentina.
Silvia Simionescu, viola
Silvia Simionescu was born in Bucharest, Rumania, where she took up
playing the violin at the age of seven. As student of Modest Iftinchi
and Stefan Gheorgiu she graduated in 1991 from the National Music
Conservatoire in Bucharest, and continued her studies at the 'Scuola di
alto perfezionamento musicale' of Saluzzo (Italy) with Mariana Sirbu and
Franco Gulli. In 1993, she became a member of the 'Camerata Lysy' and
started her studies with Yehudi Menuhin and Alberto Lysy at the
'International Menuhin Music Academy', Gstaad, Switzerland, from where
she graduated in 1995.
A Prizewinner in several national Rumanian and international
competitions (among others, 1st Prize in the International Competition
of Brescia), she already made concert tours throughout Rumania, Italy,
Germany, France and Argentina. In her great devotion to chamber music
she often plays the viola, as in the Trio Ligeti.
Diana Ligeti, cello
A graduate from the National Music Academy of her native town
Cluj-Napoca, Rumania, in 1991, as student of Ilse Herbert, 'cello and
Ferdinand Weiss, chamber music, Diana Ligeti won 1st Prize (Grand Prix)
of the 'Concours International de violoncelle de Douai' (France). She
pursued her studies from 1991 in Paris at the 'Cycle de
perfectionnement' at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in
the 'cello class of Klaus Heitz and with Christian Ivaldi for chamber
music. In 1994-1995, she took part in the classes held at the
'International Menuhin Music Academy' of Gstaad, Switzerland.
In addition to her numerous concerts all over Europe, she teaches the
cello and chamber music class at the National Music Academy of
Cluj-Napoca, Rumania, and the cello at the Conservatoire Européen de
Musique de Paris.
